Since arriving in the US, we’ve had a lot of time to browse the grocery stores, and especially to find and try out their chocolate. The nice thing about chocolates here is that most of them use milk powder rather than the cheaper whey substitutes I often see in Sweden. And chocolate with liquor doesn’t seem to be as popular here as it is back home, so even chocolate boxes here are pretty safe to buy.
One of my current favorite chocolate brands is the San Francisco-based Ghirardelli chocolate. They come in a wide variety of flavors, including various types of dark chocolate, and fillings that include mint and caramel. And there is nothing weird in their ingredients lists either. So now I have at least one to-go chocolate brand when I’m looking for something local.
